Hum, this should not. Nothing in the ebuild will install database nor
erase them, and the ebuild (via etc-update) will take care of old config
files.

I highly suggest that you check your config files to be sure they have
been *not* altered.

BTW, I've installed it on production servers, without any problems, as
long you handle config files with etc-update.

Hope you can gt it fixed.
