I think the maia_languages table is missing its data that should have  
been loaded when maia was installed.  Look in the sql file for the  
insert statements that put that data into the database.

A bigger question is why that is there - as I look at the code, it is  
also possible to put the name of the language in a file called  
"name", and then I don't see the need for all the languages to be  
listed in maia_languages.   something to look at.   At any rate, for  
1.0.2, the maia_languages needs to be pre-loaded with all that data.
