It sounds like there may be a database error taking place, such that
Maia cannot make the necessary changes to the database when you confirm
your spam and ham.  This could be the result of a permissions issue
(e.g. the GRANT statements do not permit access for a given user from a
given host).  This is particularly likely if you have your database on a
separate host from your web server, such that a grant of permission to
"amavis at localhost" will clearly be insufficient--you likely need
"amavis at webserverhost" instead.

You may wish to consult your MySQL logs and/or your PHP/web server logs
to find more specific database errors.  Turn on debugging in your
config.php file (see $loglevel, $debug_popup, and $debuglevel there) if
necessary.
