I run Maia-mailguard version 1.0.2.
I didn't quite understand your comment about not making sense, David. Did
you mean that it is out of logic and contradicts with the way the rescue
operation should work?
Based on the page with the known issue ticket this problem will be addressed
in the later releases, won't be ?

That doesn't make any sense, as the smtp routines are tied only to
the rescue operation. There is a known issue with labeling spam and
confirming non-spam:
