Andi, 

This is NOT necessary to run dual MTA setup, ONLY if you dont touch mail
header.

facts are that sendmail milter setup doenst let you to alter subject or
repackage the mail as attachement.

So if you want full maia power (and I'm sure you will), you still NEED
dual MTA setup.

This is quite easy to do, you will find m4 macros to help you in this
process.
