I have some other observations that are interesting (and btw, I realize that this isn't exactly a "MAIA" issue, but since everyone has been so helpful up til now, I'm going to throw myself on your mercy :)

I have a cron job now that moves anything in the postfix active queue on the misbehaving server (which is "localhost" to the mysql database) to the server that still works. Sometimes, this will "wake up" the situation, and the mail will move fine for quite awhile (as much as 30 minutes). But then it will get stuck again.

I just saw the active queue jump from 2 items to 68 (I'm assuming that the "deferred" messages got dumped back in right then), and then the system just stopped again. The largest message in the queue is 40k.

So, I don't know if there is some "type" of message that causes things to get stuck, and once it's stuck, it's stuck, or if it's the "number" of messages in the queue that makes it go wonky, or what. However, it will recover itself from time to time after the cron job moves the messages out, and the active queue "starts over".

If anyone has any other bright ideas, I'm all ears. Otherwise, I'll be sure to come back and at least let you know what the mystery was once it is solved.

Thanks.

Danita
